American Pit Bull Terrier Breeders                                     The American Pit Bull Terrier is a mid-sized breed of dog in the terrier group. They are known for their intelligence, strength, loyalty and friendliness. They make wonderful family dogs and pets for the children always wanting to take care of them.

They are a strong solidly built muscular dog with a short and stiff single layer of hair that can be almost any color. The ears are occasionally cropped, with a short tapered tail. The coat is short, single layered, and stiff but glossy. The ears are rose colore and semipricked and eyes can be almost any color except blue. The blocky head is wedge-shaped with wrinkles on top.

The history of the American Pit Bull Terrier began in the 1800s when the pit bull and terriers were crossbred and imported to America from England and Ireland for dog fighting. From there they were brought to farmers to be used as working dogs. They were then bred and trained to be good dog fighters but would not bite their owners or turn on other humans. In the early 1900s, the United Kennel Club and the American Dog Breeder's Association were formed so they could register this dog. The American Kennel Club would not recognize the breed and allow it to be registered, so after dog fighting was banned; many owners changed the name to Staffordshire terrier to change its reputation and prove it to be a worthy legitimate breed of dog.

This name was recognized by the AKC and shortly afterwards, the word "American" was added to its name so it wouldn't be confused with the Staffordshire bull terrier. When many breeders and owners of the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) continued to use the name, the dog became a popular family dog. Its popularity started to decline after World War II for a few years when many new dog breeds were developed. It is now a popular dog again in spite of the negative publicity. The United Kingdom enacted a law in 1991 called the Dangerous Dog Acts bans the sale or breeding of any dog that is in any part a pit bull. Responsible owners of the American Pit Bull terrier still claim that the negative publicity is due to unsavory dog owners that try to force the dog to behave in a vicious way. They also claim that many of the attacks that are claimed to have been by the APBT were actually by dogs that resembled them.
The temperament of the American Pit Bull Terrier can be described in many ways with the most consistent terms being friendly and goofy. They are known for their great intelligence, sound nerve and character and make a great family dog and pet. They are friendly towards everyone they see whether it's family, friends or strangers. The American Pit Bull Terrier makes a great dog for children, rough housing with them yet protecting them from harm if need be.

Presa Canario is a large dog breed known as Dogo Canario, which means Canarian Molosser. It is a very powerful dog breed that will take a dominant owner. Each family member must be comfortable with this type of dog, because this pet in the wrong hands can be dangerous. With the right owner, the Presa Canario can be a nice, devoted companion.
Appearance
The  Presa Canario has a square head and a broad muzzle. The head is nearly as wide as it is long. The dog has a broad chest and a slightly raised rump. The ears are usually cropped and the dogs have thick skin. This dog breed has powerful muscles and dense bones. The colors include fawn and a variety of brindles with some white markings. Males average between 23 to 26 inches in height and a minimum of 100 pounds. Females average between 22 to 25 inches in height and a minimum of 85 pounds. The males can reach up to 160 pounds in weight and the females can reach a maximum of 150 pounds.
Temperament
Presa Canarios are very dominant and have a strong character. These dogs make outstanding guard dogs, as their appearance is a deterrent alone. This dog breed is not one for first time dog owners, as these dogs will need a lot of attention. In a few situations, this dog breed can be aggressive towards other dogs and very suspicious of any strangers. After proper and recommended training, these large dogs will develop an excellent temperament. It is recommended to exercise and walk these dogs daily for the first two years. Presas who are not active can become lazy, loveable dogs inside the family home.
Lifespan
The average lifespan for Presa Canarios is approximately 8 to 12 years.
Health
As a large breed, Presa Canarios are susceptible to hip dysplasia, which is an abnormal formation of the hip socket. Other health concerns include patellar luxation, patellar evulsions, epilepsy, demodectic mange, and skin cysts. These are all reported health conditions found in Presa Canarios.
Overview
Overall, these animals are perfect for families or individuals who have the time to take on the responsibility.. The dogs will need attention and training. The short, rough coat of a Presa Canario  is easy to groom and the dog is an average shedder. Brush their hair with a firm brush and wipe clean with a towel to give them a gleaming finish. When walking or exercising this dog breed, make sure you stay in front of the dog at all times. This tells him that you are the leader and that humans are above him in pecking order. Presa Canarios are beautiful dogs that just need adequate training when being raised.
